Every so often I come across a website that I say to myself “I wish I had thought of that”! The ideas I like do range from being very simple minisites to the more complex large community websites. What I’ve found recently that I particularly like is RankNoodle.com. I cannot fathom what possessed the site designers to choose such a name, but it’s memorable!
Most short .com domains have gone these days, so it’s incredibly difficult to find a nice new catchy domain name that hasn’t already been registered. Most cyber squatters (who might call themselves internet entrepreneurs) have snapped up the shorter domains, leaving only a handful of 2 word domains.
So what do I like about this site? Well it’s a completely fresh idea for a search engine. As an experiment, I did a search for making money online. What did I get? I got a basic definition at the top of the site, a load of Related making money online Conversations which seem to be length forum type posts, some Web Results for “Making Money Online”, some images, and some YouTube videos. Now that’s different.
Combining all of those media types into a single search engine is a very neat trick. Once the site reaches popularity, I imagine they’ll earn a fortune in advertising and affiliate links. Since you have each of the main types of information typically found on the web in once place, there’s scope for interesting advertising techniques. It wouldn’t surprise me if this new search engine invents a new style or type of adverts. That’s not forgetting that they get to cover all niches too.
The only downsides that I spotted about the site is that the “About Us” and “Press” pages are still empty and the design of the site is a little rough around the edges. However, I’m intrigued to see how this develops.

WOW! That’s a pretty cool idea to give some information in that way. I can see comments icons on each listing but i was not able to click any of them. Believe me, I haven’t seen such thing before. I think we can make web a better place if we shall have a option to comment on each listing.
I am sorry to post again but I have got a spyware from one of their top 100 sites, Thanks to my Anti-spyware who was able to catch it. Be careful to open that links.
Hi Tom
The concepts behind the site are good, although it is still a little rough around the edges.
Its look good this new search site. I think google is the best but someone needs to come up with something fresh in this space. Google is becoming the Standard Oil for the 21st century.
I used to shop at Publix. Check out their search page for it:

I think it is pretty good results page.
Although where google has its ads that’s where ranknoodle.com has its videos and images. It will be interesting to see how they monetize their traffic while keeping their results page clean.
I checked it out, and although it’s nice to try alternatives to the big guys, I was not impressed. I don’t like the way the results are structured and it only returned one page of results for a search that I know should have brought up hundreds of pages.
I’ll pass on this one, but thanks for sharing an alternative.
It’s an idea, not a polished product. It’s got a long way to go before it’s truly useful.
