The Pain of Discipline is less than the pain of regret
From chatting with friends of mine it seems that the above has been muttered by many CEO’s in the finance sector in the last few months as they look to restrict corporate travel, perks, pay rises and general corporate excess in light of the “credit crunch”. When mine said it in a company wide email I thought about it a little and what it meant. Continue reading this story »

Well Hello. Not quite sure what to write here that isn’t on the site’s new about me page. My name is David and I have taken over PowerDosh.com from Dan. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Dan for all his work on this site during the time I was a reader of it. Continue reading this story »

Being able to program when you’re a web marketeer or SEO specialist is invaluable. Although you might not have the time to do all of your coding yourself, being able to fix code niggles and implement simple features is an asset. I’ve compiled a small list of resources that I’ve used fairly recently and thought were particularly useful.

Just a very quick tip for you today, as my RSI is particularly bad this week. I had realised that I had not update the URL in the header.php file in my Wordpress installations thanks to the tutorial on Daily Blog Tips. I suggest you go through all of your own sites and update your header file!

After reading the post about Gravatars and DoFollow comments on SelfMadeMinds, I thought it was about time that I implemented it on my blog. I was particularly interested in the DoFollow comments to encourage more comments on the site and ideally even increase the number of RSS subscribers by people who choose to stick around.

I have no articles in reserve at the moment, so there’s going to be no articles for 2 weeks. Sorry about that!
In the meantime, do read some of my favourite blogs, namely Self Made Minds and Daily Blog Tips.

It’s always nice to get feedback when you’ve done something good. Nobody likes negative feedback, but I always appreciate constructive suggestions. Any life coaching or career manual will tell you that being able to receive both good and bad feedback will help you to improve yourself and your career.
It boils down to knowing that you can’t possibly be an expert in everything, and it’s highly likely that someone has good ideas that you just didn’t think of. And just to really make my point, I’m even taking my own advice!

In December 2007, I made some decisions.
I want to enjoy my job
I want to stop working for other people (i.e. having a day job).
I want to have my own companies.
Those decisions are all inter-related, as I don’t enjoy working for other people that much. A way to enjoy work is therefore to do so for myself. So PowerDosh.com will chronicle my journey into running several of my own businesses, and I’ll share the tips, tricks and lessons I learn on that journey.
