Making Money Online

So you want to make money online, but where on earth do you start? If you have no investment capital to start with, then you need to start making money somehow. This post assumes you are starting with a balance of 0. So we want to find ways of earning money without investing anything. There are lots of ways to do this, and here are a few ideas on what you can do.

If you want to feel inspired, then you might be interested in a technique called doubling. The idea is that you start off with 1 pence (or 1 cent, etc), and then try to double that to 2p. Then you try to double that to 4p, 8p, 16p, etc. Eventually you get to £1 million (or $1 million, etc). Although many people don’t reach the final stages, the initial stages can be a valuable lesson in how you can make money for yourself. If you want to find out more about doubling, then take a visit to forum dedicated to doublers.

Even if you’re not sure of how you are going to invest the money once you’ve made it, just try to raise as much cash as you can. At the very least, you can put the cash into a savings account to earn you interest whilst you make your next move.

1. Sell something on eBay

If you have something you don’t want, then consider selling it. eBay is somewhere you can usually sell something (keep an eye on the fees, you want to make a profit), free private classified adverts in local press are good for large items like furniture, Amazon Marketplace for books and PlayTrade is good for DVDs and Games. Selling stuff is also a great exercise in reducing the amount of clutter in your home!

2. Paid Surveys

Paid surveys are a great way to earn some extra cash. They can take a while (as in a few months) to reach enough money for payout, but the good ones do pay well. Here are my top 3 UK-based paid survey sites:

YouGov Paid Surveys

YouGov is my top favourites, but at £0.50 a survey it takes a while to reach the minimum payout of £50. If you refer lots of your friends, your balance increases much more quickly. YouGov do their payout via cheque.

Ciao Paid Surveys

Ciao are a very reputable paid survey company. Their paid surveys typically are lower in value at between £0.10 and £0.40, but they have a minimum payment of just £5. I’ve found that if you start slacking on doing their surveys, they don’t send you as many to do. Ciao do their payout via bank transfer and Paypal.

Valued Opinions Paid Surveys

Valued Opinions give you vouchers in return for surveys. Their surveys are usually very well paid, usually £1.00 or £2.00 a time. Once you have earn £10, you can convert your earnings into a voucher. Once you have your voucher, use it when you would normally do your shopping, and then put the £10 into your earning money account for investing later.

Important Note: Never ever pay any service to give you paid surveys. They should be paying you! If a service requires payment from you, its probably a scam.

3. Paid To Click Websites

These are a rising trend at the moment, but there are so many scam sites that exist. When it comes to paid-to-click websites, never give them any money for premium membership or referrals. They should be paying you!

Bux.to Review

The only paid-to-click site that I recommend is Bux.to. They pay you $0.01 for each link that you click, and they typically have about 10 links a day to click. If you refer other people to the system, then you get $0.01 for each link they click. You get paid when you reach $10, and you are paid by Paypal. Bux.to are very reputable, but they can take up to 60 days to send payment. It is easy money though, and I’ve earnt $30 myself in a few months.

Frankly I don’t trust any other Paid-To-Click sites, as I suspect 70% are scams. Example scam sites are EnglandBux.org and MoneyBux.org.

4. Cashback Sites

Cashback sites are another rising trend on the web at the moment. The principle is that shopping and finance websites pay a finders fee (i.e. money via affiliates) for new sales that webmasters send their way. Websites now exist that pay you a share of this money in return for signing up via the cashback site. Here are my favourite 3 cashback sites at the moment:

GreasyPalm Cashback Site

GreasyPalm is one of the older cashback sites. They offer one of the lowest payouts compared to other cashback sites, but they have the best range of retailers. So basically you can earn money through shops that other cashback sites don’t support. Their payout threshold is £25, but you get £7 for each friend you refer who earns £15.

TopCashBack Cashback Site

TopCashBack has one of the best payout rates for cashback sites. You don’t earn a great deal for referring friends (£0.50 a time), but they have a lower payout threshold of just £0.01.

QuidCo Cashback Site

QuidCo is a cashback site that gives all of the money that it makes from affiliates to you. Therefore they offer the best cashback compared to all cashback sites. However, they charge an admin fee of £5 per year, which is taken from your first earnings. I’ve earnt over £80 from these guys simply by purchasing something via them rather than going direct to a retailer!

So hopefully those tips are helpful to you. Please do let me know how you get on!
