This is a shameful error, but it does happen and I’m pleased I actually found it and was able to fix it. Due to a CSS error, I lost the adsense box, comments and categories from the sidebar on the PowerDosh site when viewed in Internet Explorer. Since I use Mozilla Firefox all the time, and although I do check my sites in IE on occasion, I obviously had forgotten to do so when I made a recent change to the sidebar.
So here’s the lesson for you… “check your design changes in all dominant web browsers to check that the website still looks the way it should“. I’ve found that the IE Tab Add On is a great tool for doing this, and means I don’t even need to leave Firefox to check the site.
What browsers do you check your designs in? Any recommended tools?

Though i never used a tool and is looking for that can show both interfaces , i.e. IE6 and above and Firefox during development time. But i myself made a silliest mistake. I used tag for my forms for which i was using costly PPC, upto 1$ per click. I did not check my version with Firefox and the Form was looking pathetic, totally messed up in firefox (by chance used firefox at a friend’s system). I know there are tools that can give output on both browsers during development time.
Using a development tool that claims to represent the functionality of both Firefox and IE is dangerous. Just try each browser, much easier and more reliable!
According to some of my recent analytics data based on five thousand plus vists I found the following -
Browser used:
IE - 77%
Firefox - 20%
Safari - 2%
Opera - 0.5%
others - 0.5% (Playstation featured the most here)
Operating system:
Windows - 97%
Mac - 2%
Linux - 0.3%
others - 0.7%
I think if you can get your design/usability right in the top 3 then you should be OK (don’t forget Mac). I always run seperate IE and Firefox checks and versions 6 and 7 of IE.
